This blog is all about me ...

Its not often you get to promo yourself

I really love marketing, but marketing myself is another matter.  I am by no means shy, but it just feels a bit too narcissistic to me …. but I am breaking my own mold and sharing with you all that I am delighted to be names as one of the 22 most influential women of 2022.

Now this isn’t a global award (I’m going for that in 2023) but it sits me in a fantastic group with some great leaders and shakers in the South West area.

I was presented this nomination by The Business Exchange South West, read it, it is a great local publication.

What is it all about?

The Business Exchange South West was celebrating Bath and North East Somerset’s most inspiring women to mark International Women’s Day 2022 which this year takes place on Tuesday 8th March.

Through their social media channels, they asked their readers which women in our community inspire them and created a list of 22 for ’22.

This feature is sponsored by Milsted Langdon accountants. Milsted Langdon decided to support this activity as they are passionate about supporting women in business and helping local communities thrive through their work with business owners, charities and not-for-profits.

Today we put the spotlight on Joanna Palmer, Founder of We Need To Talk Marketing.

Where my marketing journey began

Joanna Palmer started her marketing career in South of France when she was living in Cannes. She was working with the ex-pat and the superyacht communities to provide them with easy-to-use English language publications to make their everyday lives easier. It was here her love for providing assistance wherever possible, in whatever way possible, really grew. Having previously worked for two charities, support and awareness were the forefront of her working and personal life.

Where I am now

Since returning to the UK Joanna has remained with one toe in the water as Editor for Superyacht Technology Network and as a marketing consultant for dsnm Ltd as well as providing marketing strategy support and account management support to a number of local companies in the South West.

Providing a platform for businesses and individuals to be able to speak is essential to Joanna’s day to day life which is why she volunteers as part of the TEDxBath Comms team.

Using influence

Joanna said, “It is my passion to spread the word, which is why marketing really is the perfect career for me. I adore my volunteer work with TEDxBath as it provides a safe encouraging space for people without bias to tell their story. The dialogue is always thought provoking and from the heart. As part of the 22 of ’22, I will continue to actively inspire people and businesses to be supportive, break the bias and encourage open conversation.”
